We Go There
A view of Pikes Peak as we get read to ascend up to 14,000+ feet.

Lakeview
A lake with quite the view.

Bend in the Road
Ominous weather in the distance as we start the climb, hoping it holds off because if it starts snowing the peak will be closed off to vehicles.

Ribbon of Tarmac
It wasn't exactly the best conditions to be driving up the mountain; hard to believe all this used to be unpaved.

Above the Tree Line
You know you're in amazing heights when vegetation ceases to grow.

Hairpin
We definitely took it slow around these parts.

The Climb
The cavalry of rental cars snaking their way up to the summit.

The Snake
Man-made yet dictated by nature.

Journey to the Clouds
So close you can almost touch it.

The Bendy Bits
The parts of the climb where you aren't in danger of literally falling off a cliff.

High Line
At this point the temperature is hovering in the 30s. In comparison, at Colorado Springs where we started it was a nice 70s.

A Mile Below
At the Pikes Peak summit, looking down at Colorado Springs more than a mile below.

Rocky Lake
It's like looking at a Middle Earth. Eerie. Awe-inspiring.

Clinging On
Looking at the trees it's a stark reminder that where I'm standing is not really meant to sustain life long term.

Monuments
The stunning rock formations at the Garden of the Gods park.

Crevasse
The artistic genius of man cannot compete with what mother nature can do.

White Decay
One of the few non red-clay rock-formations at Garden of the Gods park.

The gods must have gotten angry here and split this rock formation into two pieces.

World's Tallest
The Royal Gorge Bridge, the worlds tallest (by elevation) suspension bridge.

It's not just the bridge, it's practically an min amusement park.

Down Below
You wouldn't want to have a tumble down there.

The Span
If there exist a geographic gap, man will build a bridge over it.

Suspended Deck
The answer is yes: the bridge does move slightly constantly.

Backdrop
This is my kind of strolling on a deck.

Overpass
The artful Highland Bridge in the heart of Denver.

Triangulation
The main spine of the Highland Bridge.

Highland Bridge Road
One can walk from Highland Bridge straight through several other pedestrian bridges to get to Union Station. It's where the Amtrak train en-route to Chicago from San Francisco stops at to allow those of us visiting Denver to disembark.

From Underneath
Highland Bridge. Denver, Colorado.

Millennium Bridge
They sure know how to build them pretty. All this simply for a pedestrian bridge crossing over the railway lines heading into Union Station.

Rain makes the atmosphere.
